The Crown Concert Series is very pleased to welcome Kristin Sims, soprano, Jason Buckwalter, baritone and Maria Thompson Corley piano to the sanctuary. These fine performers have a program that is sure to please! In this unusual recital, they will present the entirety of Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch (Italian Songbook) – a collection of 46 lovely songs for soprano and baritone. Despite the name, the songs are in German, but the program will include translations.

Engaging and eclectic, the Mirari Brass Quintet brings a spirit of joyful collaboration and innovation to music spanning many centuries and genres. The commissioners of multiple new works of brass, the group performs a spectacular tight-rope act, balancing intensity with levity and refined virtuosity with pure fun.

The popular Silver, Wood and Ivory, featuring Tracy Dietrich on flutes and recorders and Cindy Wittenberg on piano, will perform Simply Christmas on two evenings: Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 at 7:00 pm. Together, this two-person orchestra of classically trained artists have fashioned a tapestry of music that stirs the soul. Tickets for these concerts will be available on their website www.silverwoodandivory.com. We will have 60 tickets available at the church. Patrons donating $100.00 or more will receive one complimentary ticket. Please specify which night you will attend.

The concert on Sunday, November 23 at 3:00pm features The Dark Moon Octet, performed by TRP (The Reese Project), which blends neoclassical sounds with real jazz. It features a jazz quartet made up of alto flute, piano, bass, and drums, as well as a flute quartet made up of flute, violin, viola, and cello. The instrumentation highlights the juxtaposition of jazz and classical music. Commissioned in 2014 by the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival, it has been called “a modern masterpiece” by a reviewer for JazzTimes.
The September 14 and November 23 concerts will receive a free-will offering.
