The White Privilege: Let’s Talk—A Resource for Transformational Dialogue series will continue today in the Parlor from 12:30-2:00 pm. All are welcome to join us.

Strengthen the Church: Invest in the Vision!
Today, we will collecting a special offering for Strengthen the Church, which is a special offering to energize and build the future of UCC. Strengthen the Church offerings largely support youth ministries and full-time leaders for new churches in parts of the country where the UCC’s voice has not been heard. Your gifts will support new churches, foster new ideas in existing churches, and develop the spiritual lives of our youth and young adults. Please consider giving generously to this important ministry. If you cannot give your offering today, you can place it in the offering basket at any time.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
There will be a VBS meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at 7 pm in Rader Park.  Everyone is welcome to join us to discuss and plan Digging for Treasure, Parables Revealed, the 2017 theme.

Attention Graduates
It’s Graduation season, and the Education Commission wants to be sure every High School and College Graduate is recognized. Please call the church office at (717) 392-5718 to be sure your graduate is on the list.

New Beginnings
Join us for the first picnic of the season on Thursday, June 8 at 12 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Hot dogs, rolls, condiments, and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. A hymn sing will conclude the program.

Wishing Well
The Sundays in June will be Undies Sundays! Please consider participating in this ministry to help Martin Elementary School students by donating underwear for boys and girls ages 4 to 12. We are collecting these Undies in the Wishing Well. We have another fun collection for July, so stay tuned! Thank you for supporting Undies Sundays!

Share the Bounty
Starting June 4th, if you have flowers or anything from your garden you wish to share, bring it to the card table just outside the Narthex. If you see something you would like, take it; and if you wish, you can make a donation in the small box on the table.

Wacky Wednesdays
Wacky Wednesdays will be held this year from 10-11:30 am on Wednesdays from June 28-August 2 in Rader Park. The theme is “Caring for Our Planet.” Please visit the Welcome Center for a detailed flyer.

Vacation Bible School
Church of the Apostles and Salem U.C.C. invite you to join us for Vacation Bible School 2017 on June 18-22 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Children between the ages of four (4) years through 5th grade are invited to come learn Bible stories, play games, make crafts, and learn about the importance of caring for God’s treasure. Registration forms are located at the Welcome Center. Please return completed forms to the church office by June 12, or register online at www.apostlesucc.org.

During the first three Sundays of each month, you have the opportunity to buy grocery cards in the office after service. You can buy cards for the following month and pick up the ones you ordered last month. Remember, the discount we earn from purchasing cards in bulk from Giant, Stauffers, and Weis provide food for the Saturday Breakfast downtown once a month. Helping others is easy, as well as a wonderful thing!

The Groff Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., will be hosting an educational program on Pre-Planning Funeral Services and why planning ahead is so important. You can join them on Tuesday, May 23rd at The Bachman Center at Homestead Village for a complimentary luncheon at 11:30 am with the program to follow. Lisa Groff and Michele DeRosa will present educational information on how to have necessary conversations with your family that will allow you to make sound choices. Registration is required by contacting The Groff Funeral Home at (717) 394-5300, or register online at www.thegroffs.com under the event tab.

Youth Center Clean-up!
We are gearing up to make some significant improvements to the Youth Center this summer, and our first task is to clean out and sort through things that have been left there over the years. The youth and other groups that use the space will be cleaning up on Saturday, May 13 from 9 am—2 pm. We would love to see you there!

Seeds of Hope Garden
Part of the garden is planted. We will be there Tuesday mornings at 9 am, Friday evenings at 7 pm, and after the 9:15 am service on Sundays. Come visit the garden!

Academy Recitals
You are invited to attend the remaining two Academy Studios recitals on the following dates:

  • May 13 at 2 pm: Piano students of Eldonna Filardi

Widows/Widowers Support Groups
Widows and widowers who are looking for others to talk with about the loss of a spouse are invited to join us on:

  • Widowers Group: Wednesday, May 17 at 3 pm at Tom Sanders’ house
  • Widows Group: Wednesday, May 31 at 9:30 am in the Parlor

Refreshments and snacks will be served. Please invite someone you think might benefit from these discussions.

Vacation Bible School Meeting
A VBS meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 pm in room 304. Join us as we plan for this year’s series Digging for Treasure (June 18-22) in Rader Park.

Missionary Support
Missionary support this month is for CEVER (The Center for Evangelical and Reformed Vocational Education) in Honduras. It is important for the young people there to be educated and trained for jobs. A one-month scholarship is $25, and $600 covers a whole year. This is quite a bargain.

The 2017 Apostles Baseball Schedule is available at the Welcome Center for anyone who may want a copy.

Lifetouch Photography will be at Church of the Apostles on:

  • October 16 – October 20: 1-8 pm
  • October 21: 9 am – 4 pm

to take photos for a new mobile church directory. You will also be able to take individual/family portraits during this time. Photos are expected to be delivered before Christmas. More information will follow shortly.
