Temple Ave. Jazz Band Concert – September 29th, 2024
Join us on September 29th, 2024, at 3 PM for a free concert by Temple Avenue Jazz, a Lancaster-based jazz group formed in 2011. Initially started by pianist Colin Mekeel and his friends from Temple University’s prestigious jazz program, the band now features professional musicians in their late 20s and early 30s. Known for their unique spin on jazz standards and lesser-known gems, Temple Avenue promises an unforgettable performance. The quartet, led by vocalist Jillian Ashcraft, will also feature Adam Price on clarinet, Colin Mekeel on piano, and Doug Drewes on bass. This free concert is presented by the Apostles Academy of Arts & Science, with a free-will offering in lieu of tickets.
Let’s Get Vaccinated: Flu & Covid Shot Clinic
Join us after service on Sunday, October 13th at 11 AM for free flu shots and Pfizer and Moderna COVID boosters with Melissa Koehler from Hillcrest Pharmacy. This event is exclusively for Church of the Apostles UCC members, and you must be in attendance on October 13th to receive your shots—there is no scheduled make-up date.
Registration is mandatory to ensure Melissa brings enough shots for everyone. You can register via Realm, by emailing office@apostlesucc.org, or by calling (717) 392-5718. Registration ends on Thursday, October 10th, so be sure to sign up ASAP!

Don’t Miss our 3rd Annual Halloween Parade & Party
Don’t miss Church of the Apostles UCC’s 3rd Annual Halloween Parade & Party on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, from 1-4 PM! The parade kicks off at 1 PM from the front church parking lot at 1850 Marietta Ave, marching through Homestead Village for residents and staff to enjoy. The parade will end at Rader Park, where every child will receive a candy bag filled with treats—peanut and gluten-free options are available in limited quantities.
Enjoy fun games like pumpkin bowling, ring toss, and crazy cans, with prizes for every child who plays! At 2:30 PM, our costume contest at Schellenberger Pavilion will award scariest, funniest, most creative, best group costumes, and more. Plus, don’t miss the raffle for gift certificates to Laserdome, Goin Bananas, SkyZone, and a special adults-only prize!

Hailing from Lancaster, Joel Makeci is a Congolese American singer, songwriter, and bandleader whose journey from refugee camps in Tanzania to stages across the United States has captivated audiences with his unique fusion of rock, rumba, and gospel. Accompanied by the eight-member New Generation Gospel Band, Joel delivers a high-energy performance filled with tight grooves, soaring vocal harmonies, and jubilant music that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. Get ready for a summer of exploration and fun with Wacky Wednesday, our exciting summer reading program for kids preschool age through third grade!
Running from June 19th to July 17th, 2024, Wacky Wednesday offers children a chance to delve into the wonders of nature at Rader Park.
Located at 1899 Apostles Way, Lancaster, PA 17603, follow signs to the end behind Homestead Village, Wacky Wednesday will take place every Wednesday from 10-11:30 AM. This completely free community program is open to anyone but is geared towards children ages 10 and younger.
Each session promises an adventure as children discover the fascinating critters inhabiting the park’s pond, including turtles and herons. While pre-registration isn’t mandatory, we highly encourage it. Caregivers are also required to accompany the children.

On June 19th, we’ll kick off our exploration with a focus on turtles, followed by a look at the fish in the pond on June 26th. July 3rd brings us face-to-face with snakes, and on July 10th, we’ll marvel at the beautiful herons that call Rader Park home. The program culminates on July 17th with a special presentation by Lisa Sanchez.

Love is Love: Free Showing of “The Grove”
Join us as we celebrate Pride Month at Church of the Apostles UCC!
On Sunday, June 30th, we’ll cap off the festivities with a free screening of “The Grove,” a poignant documentary showcasing one church’s journey in embracing love for all. Proudly fostering inclusivity, we invite you to join us for this special film event at noon, following our 10 AM worship service and 11 AM social hour. Malta Band of Lancaster Concert
Experience the rich musical heritage of Lancaster with The Malta Band on May 19th at 3 PM at Church of the Apostles UCC! Established over one hundred years ago, The Malta Band is one of the oldest concert bands in the area. Join us for an afternoon of timeless melodies and captivating performances.
