Let’s celebrate! Within two months, we have exceeded our goal of raising $10,000 to build a school in Honduras through Central American Relief Efforts (C.A.R.E.). The school will be built between now and January and a delegation from the church will be traveling there for the dedication. Nate Sheffer is writing a song to share with the village and our Outreach Commission will be asking for your participation in purchasing and filling backpacks with school supplies for the children. A blessing of this gift is being planned for an upcoming service. Thank you again for your generosity!
Cool jazz on a hot night! That’s what we experienced with the sounds of Jazz Ministers Big Band. A wonderful time was had by all!
We highlighted our bell choir and the gifted artists of our Apostles Academy during worship. In the afternoon we were amazed by the musical students of the Academy in their second recital. We have very gifted teachers!
Our choirs combined for a fantastic rendition of Give a Little Love by Ziggy Marley.
On April 28, our liturgical dance group interpreted “Lord of the Dance” during both worship services. Excellent job dancers!
On Saturday, April 27 our Church of the Apostles team of six took to the streets of Lancaster to show our support of the Lancaster YWCA’s Race Against Racism.
On Friday, April 12 we hosted the showing of two silent movies with live accompaniment by the Reese Project. Tom Reese (flute) and Laurie Haines Reese (cellor) gave life and interest to Buster Keaton’s film Paleface and Lon Chaney in Light of Faith. Popcorn, lemonade, and penny candy added to the ambiance.
During the 50 days of the Easter season, we are participating in the UCC Mission 4/1 Earth initiative. We will log hours of earth care, trees planted and letters written to state and federal representatives on environmental issues. Check out the links under “Care” for more information.
