Food Bank
Needs: Specifically—cold cereal, rice or rice helpers, pasta, crackers, dry soup, and canned items, including soups, fruits, beans, baked beans, tomatoes, and tuna.

Market Basket
During the first three Sundays of each month, you have the opportunity to buy grocery cards in the office after service. You can buy cards for the following month and pick up the ones you ordered last month. Remember, the discount we earn from purchasing cards in bulk from Giant, Stauffers, and Weis provide food for the Saturday Breakfast downtown once a month. Helping others is easy, as well as a wonderful thing!

COA T-shirts for Sale
There is still time to order your Church of the Apostles 40th Anniversary t-shirt. Order forms are available at the Welcome Center. Completed orders must be received by April 23. Cathy Kenlin will have one sample available to view after services.

Adult Sunday School
A series, entitled White Privilege: Let’s Talk—A Resource for Transformational Dialogue, will be held on Sundays in the Parlor from 12:30-2:00 pm from Sunday, April 23—Sunday, May 28. A light lunch will be served. All are welcome to join us for a discussion about the privileges some of us experience. Please RSVP at the Welcome Center.

Garage Sale—Help Needed
Your help is needed this week (Monday, April 17—Thursday, April 20) for pricing, sorting, folding, and hanging up clothes. Lunch will be provided. Please come as you are able.

Race Against Racism
Once again, Church of the Apostles has a team for the 2017 Race Against Racism being held on Saturday, April 29th at 9 am. All are welcome to walk or run in this meaningful community event by registering at: www.ywcalancaster.org/raceagainstracism. Please choose the Church of the Apostles Team. Participants will carpool to the start and enjoy breakfast together afterward! If you have any questions, please contact Kristi Newport at kbnewport@gmail.com.

Missionary Support
Missionary support this month is for CEVER (The Center for Evangelical and Reformed Vocational Education) in Honduras. It is important for the young people there to be educated and trained for jobs. A one-month scholarship is $25, and $600 covers a whole year. This is quite a bargain. You can read more about their program in the April Crown.

“Never Again”
On Sunday, April 23, Church of the Apostles (along with the Lancaster Interfaith Coalition and others) will be hosting “Never Again”—a three-part journey to learn about and get involved with current issues related to immigration, including the effects of policy on persons of different religious traditions and ethnic origins. The schedule is as follows:

  • 3:00-3:30 pm at Temple Shaarai Shomayim: Introduction of Current Issues and Video on Working Together
  • 4:00-4:30 pm at the Islamic Community Center of Lancaster: Discussion & Letter Writing: Seeking Justice from Decision-makers and Encouraging Immigrant Families
  • 5:00-6:00 pm at Church of the Apostles UCC: Dinner & Fellowship Followed by a Vigil
